What is cupping therapy?

Full back cupping session

What’s the hype around cupping therapy, anyways?!

What is it?

There are a lot of different types of cupping therapies, but I perform cupping with plastic cups. I can control the intensity depending on how much suction I apply to the cups based on your tolerance and clinical judgement. My ala carte cupping services are 30 minutes and include the cupping & light massage following.

How does it work?

Physiologically, the theory of what is happening explained in layman's terms:

We have ~27 layers of fascia (similar to the lining on a chicken breast) which surrounds our muscles. With the cup suctioned, you are picking up the top layers of skin & fascia, to allow the promotion of blood flow in that area & improve the muscles slide and glide!

What can it do for me?

1. Decrease pain

2. Improve range of motion

3. Improve quality of motion

4. Increase blood flow to that area, resulting in healing

5. Work on scar adhesions and improving the mobility of deeper tissues and MORE

Why patients love it:

Patients often describe the feeling as a weight off of their shoulders, feeling lighter, feeling looser, less tight, and experience pain free movement following the cupping session. We always do a test-re-test to see how you feel before and after, see for yourself!
